Escali Cesto Review

I recently had the opportunity to try and review the Escali Cesto Portable Nutrition Tracker. Not only does it provide the weight in ounces/pounds or grams, it also has nutritional data stored for over 999 different foods. I love it!

I wasn't familiar with the Escali line so I took some time to check out their website. In addition to having a full line of kitchen and multifunctional scales they also have professional scales, bath scales and accessories. Several of the bath scales have a 400 pound capacity so if that is something that you need, they have a scale for you.

I have to admit that I thought a food scale was just a food scale but once I had the opportunity to try this and really get familiar with the functions, I'm spoiled.

The scale Features

  • Capacity of 11 pounds or 5000 grams
  • Measures in ounces, pounds and ounces or grams and it measures liquids in fluid ounces or milliliters.
  • Measures in 0.1 oz or 1 gram increments
  • Displays calories, sodium, protien, fat, carbohydrtaes, cholesterol and fiber for 999 different foods (it comes with a book that has codes for each food)
  • Calculates total nutritional value of up to 99 different meal components
  • ..and so much more

Its small and portable. I sort of chuckled when I read that, who would bring a scale with them? Its size is 8 3/4 x 6 1/4 and under an inch thick. Its just a little bit bigger than a standard DVD movie case. I dropped it in my handbag the other day when we went to Panera and I weighed my bagel and looked up the food code and found the results were fairly accurate considering I didn't tell the scale I picked a bagel with Asiago cheese on top. .

I've been using it daily in the kitchen and I love how it measures so accurately in 1 gram or 0.1 ounce increments because I've been trying to include a serving of nuts in my daily diet and while something uniform in shape such as an almond is easy to guesstimate that X number of almonds will be X amount of calories, I like to eat walnuts and have found that they tend to break and aren't as uniform in size. Nuts pack a big calorie punch and the difference of a 5 to 10 grams per day over the course of a year really adds up.

I honestly thought I wouldn't use the nutritional information look up often with the scale but there have been several instances where its really come in handy. For the most part I've been using it to give me the weight of my foods. I'm also amazed at how quickly I've been spoiled by the ability to measure in liquid ounces. I tend to take a recipe and make changes to it as I go so the versatily of the Escali Cesto has been perfect for someone like me who is learning to love to cook healthy meals.

The Ultra Slim Escali Cesto portable nutritional scale allows the user to have access to weight and nutritional data at home and away. The user friendly "touch glass"display shows calories, sodium, protein, fat, carbohydrates, cholesterol or fiber via the input of 999 different food codes. The Cesto can calculate total nutritional value for up to 99 different meal components.
